Track handbook progress

ManagerUpdated July 31, 2026

See who started, who finished and who's late — and score the written answers waiting on you.

Open Handbooks in the sidebar and switch to the Progress tab. Everyone you’ve assigned is in one table, whichever way you assigned them.

Read the table

Each row is one person on one handbook, with how far they’ve got and where they stand:

  • Not started — assigned, hasn’t opened it.
  • In progress — somewhere in the middle.
  • Needs review — finished, but there are written answers for you to score.
  • Completed — done and nothing left for you.
  • Overdue — past its due date and still unfinished.
  • Canceled — you called it off. It stays in the list as history.

Filter by handbook or by status when the list gets long. The tiles at the top count the same thing at a glance.

Score written answers

A row marked Needs review has answers waiting. Open it, read each answer, and enter a score out of the points that question is worth. Saving marks the submission as reviewed and the row moves to Completed.

Written answers never blocked the person — they finished without waiting on you. See Add quizzes and checklists.

Cancel an assignment

Open the row and choose Cancel assignment, with a reason. Use it when someone changes position or the handbook no longer applies to them. It doesn’t disappear — the record stays so you can see what happened.

What everyone gets told

  • Your staff are notified when you assign them a handbook, again 24 hours before the due date, and once it’s overdue.
  • You and the other managers are notified when someone completes a handbook, or when it’s finished but has written answers to score.
